April 7, 2015 When asked again to pick between Union control of the Board of Directors or taxpayer control, we could not have been more clear. Robin Harris was elected in a landslide with 63% of the vote.

Why does this Union keep picking silly fights? They have become a complete embarrassment to our community. The Board installs used bullet resistant vests in a wall, a common practice, and a Captain/Shop Steward acknowledges it and demeans it to the press. An efficient, cost effective action is undermined by a Commander of the District. He should be disciplined.
sounds like this Union control board is running rampent in other Districts like Maryland Heights. MHFD union is sponsoring a candidate, Tom Carter. 2 of the Directors will be union controled…Bob Nichols and Tom Carter if he gets in. The Fire Chief is nothing but a puppet to the Union Shop Steward. When is this going to stop? Too bad there isn’t a “Maryland Heights concerned Taxpayers articles as well.
In 2011 Monarch FPD put on a hiring test where they put candidates through a hiring process consisting of a written examination, a swimming test, a practical skills examination, and an interview process. Those candidates were then ranked and placed on a hiring wait list. That list was suppose to last 2 years. As of yesterday, Monarch is now preparing to put on a similar process 1 year prior to the expiration of the original list, therefore eliminating that list. There are still many candidates left on the active list who were not hired. A hiring process costs money and it seems very uneccessary to put on a hiring process a year before the old list was set to expire. My guess is, this has something to do with the hiring of this new chief and his desire to bring his own people into the district. More wasteful spending from Monarch.
I think there is another motive for hiring Vinyard: Now that the other candidate Crews is gone, and Vinyard will not last long, the union may try to come back with another union supported person in a year or so. With Crews out they may get another puppet to run the show. Its time to clean the house of the union rookies and let them know they are not in charge.
